Why Inboxflip is the best free temporary email for privacy

Most temp-mail services either require a signup, leak your real address through aliases, or expire the inbox before a delayed verification email arrives. Inboxflip is built around the four things that actually matter for a throwaway inbox:

Instant generation

One click — no email, no password, no personal details. The address is yours the moment the page loads.

Real-time inbox

Verification emails and OTPs appear as soon as they hit our servers. No polling, no manual refresh.

24-hour auto-delete

Every inbox and every message is permanently removed within 24 hours. There is nothing for you to clean up.

Privacy by default

No tracking pixels load until you explicitly accept them in the cookie banner. Your real email never leaves your device.

How disposable temporary email works

Whether you call it temp mail, throwaway email, burner email, or 10 minute mail, the workflow is the same: generate, copy, receive, walk away.

  1. Open Inboxflip

A random disposable email address is generated for you instantly. No sign-up, no captcha, no personal details.

  2. Copy your address

Paste it into any signup form, OTP field, or verification request — Craigslist, a SaaS trial, an ebook download, an app account.

  3. Watch your inbox

Incoming verification messages and OTPs appear in real time, directly in the browser. Click the message to read it.

  4. Walk away

Your inbox and every email in it disappear automatically within 24 hours. There is nothing to log out of, delete, or unsubscribe from.

When to use a temporary email address

Disposable email is useful any time you need to receive an email but do not want a long-term relationship with the sender.

  • Sign up for a new service Try a SaaS, marketplace, or app without committing your real address until you're sure you want to keep it.
  • Receive an OTP or 2FA code Confirm a one-off purchase, guest checkout, or single sign-up — then dispose of the inbox.
  • Marketplace and classified ads Reply to listings on Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, OLX, or local classified sites without exposing your identity.
  • Newsletter and lead-magnet downloads Read an ebook, whitepaper, or course gated behind an email form — without months of follow-up spam.
  • Developer and QA testing Test signup, password-reset, and OTP flows in your own product without polluting personal or work mailboxes.
  • Forum and community accounts Join a Discord onboarding flow, a Reddit-style forum, or a closed beta safely.

Frequently asked questions about temporary & disposable emails

What is Inboxflip?

Inboxflip is a free temporary email service: you get a disposable inbox to receive verification codes and messages without using your real email address. Messages are available in real time and removed automatically after 24 hours.

Do I need to create an account?

No. You can generate a temporary address without signing up or providing any personal details. Just open the page.

How long are emails kept?

Incoming mail and inboxes are automatically deleted after 24 hours, in line with our privacy practices. There is no manual delete step — everything expires on its own.

Is Inboxflip free?

Yes. Inboxflip is offered at no charge for personal use such as protecting your primary inbox from spam, testing forms, and one-off verifications.

Is Inboxflip the same as 10 minute mail or a burner email?

It is the same category. Disposable email is also called throwaway email, burner email, fake email, or 10 minute mail. Inboxflip's window is 24 hours instead of 10 minutes, so verification flows that send a delayed email still work reliably.

Can I send emails from a disposable address?

No. Inboxflip is receive-only. You can read incoming verification, password-reset, and confirmation emails, but you cannot send messages from a disposable address. This is a deliberate anti-abuse choice.

Why didn't my verification email arrive?

Some senders block disposable email domains to reduce signup abuse. If a service rejects the address or the email never arrives, refresh the inbox after a minute, and if it still does not show up, generate a new address or use a different service.

Are my temporary emails private?

Inbox URLs are not indexed by search engines (see our robots.txt) and are deleted automatically. Treat disposable inboxes as ephemeral — never use them for sensitive accounts like banking, healthcare, or your primary identity.

Can I use Inboxflip for OTP and 2FA codes?

Yes for one-time signup verification codes. We do not recommend it for ongoing two-factor authentication because you cannot recover access once the inbox expires.

Is using a disposable email legal?

Using a disposable email to protect your privacy on signups and one-off verifications is legal in most jurisdictions. You must still follow the terms of any service you sign up for and applicable laws — see our Terms of Service.
